Winterlake Farm strives to produce athletic sport animals with kind, willing temperaments. With each match of mare and stallion, the goal is to produce free movement with suspension, trainability, correct conformation and an overall beautiful animal ready to be a success in the discipline of your choice and to be your best friend. The purebred and crossbred Welsh finish between 14 hh and 16 hh. Videos and more photos are available.

Winterlake Ultimate Jacque Born June 13, 2008
This colt has everything you would want in a Welsh cob. His conformation is correct, he moves fluidly with extension and suspension, and Jacque is friendly and quite a character. As his name implies, he's a 'jock' and he shows great promise for eventing and other under disciplines. He loads and has been well handled and was ponied on the trail as a yearling, and was perfect going through water and over wooden bridges. Will begin ground driving Spring of 2010. I expect him to finish 14.3+. Pictured in August '09 as a yearling. Reasonably priced at $5,000, to increase with training.

Theodore aka Teddy
2008 Half Welsh Gelding
This boy has a definite cobby look, has excellent bone, is a good mover, and is exceptionally sweet in temperament. Teddy ties, loads, and clips and carries a saddle—he acts like he’s done it all. Unpapered but papers could be acquired. A bargain at $3,000. Price to increase when driving training begins in the spring. Open to an offer to an adoring home.
Two Prospects Due in 2010
Coco Chanel is due in April 2010; North Forks Cardi is the sire. I am extremely excited about Coco's first foal, as Cardi has crossed very well with Thoroughbreds. This baby will have the advantage of a sire and dam who are both sweet, big moving, and very trainable. Coco came to me as an 8 y.o. this summer. After two months of training, she performed well in an arena and is a super mount on the trail. With her buckskin color, there is the possibility of a dilute-colored foal.
Stagecoach Chloe (*Tuscani Aramus x Hastening Eclipse) will also produce her first foal for Winterlake. Bred to North Forks Cardi, this foal is especially anticipated. This cross is doubling up on the strong Hastening mare line, a line that ends with Chloe. Chloe's warmblood way of going is unique in the cob world. She is built uphill and 'sits' coming through from behind. She has a kind disposition, and at age 6, was started easily under saddle. She is now my 'rock' on the trail and is perfect for guest riders. Also due in April 2010. A colt would be available for sale.

Bocelli AF 2009 Black Weser Ems colt
Super Fancy 2009 Black Weser Ems colt with tasteful chrome. Bocelli strongly reflects his sire's character, temperament and outstanding movement - earning a premium award at his Weser-Ems inspection with many compliments over his type and ground covering elastic movement with much suspension. Bocelli’s dam, Mimosa, is a gorgeous MMB GOV/Weser-Ems Trakehner/Arab mare that herself shows considerable talent, rideability and outstanding work ethic, and currently is back in training in her own progression towards FEI levels. Mimosa’s sire line descends from the famed Trakehner stallion, Marduc, renown in Europe for the success of his progeny at FEI levels. Her direct sire, Happy Hour, was imported from Denmark, a son of Induc who was the Bundeschampionat as a 4 year old and received the highest evaluation marks on rideablity and movement, ranging for 9.0 – 10.0. Bocelli is an excellent combination of both his sire and dam's outstanding qualities with an undeniable presence all his own plus breath-taking movement. He has sweet, inquisitive temperament, a true pocket pony character that loves attention. A quick learner, Bocelli always demonstrates his generous nature when handled. He will be an outstanding prospect for either professional or amateur to develop - will likely mature small horse, but will be the ultimate sport horse ride or drive with his huge elastic movement. $11,000 Contact martinmd@att.net, located in California

Chica Bonita CFP
This bay filly will be an amateur's/junior's dream. Incredible temperament, personality plus. Chica loves to be groomed and handled and moves uphill with suspension and expression. The Welsh Cob X Tb has been a well known successful cross in Europe for many years and produces athletic, balanced individuals that excel in many disciplines. Dam Mischka was shown in lower level eventing successfully before coming to Cottage Farm. She then turned to dressage for two seasons, winning at Training to 2nd level at recognized shows with scores in the mid to high 60s before becoming a broodmare. She is one of the nicest horses in temperament and trainability I have ever owned and she passes these traits on to her babies. Chica is tractable and trainable with lovely gaits, correct conformation and THE BEST personality!

Winterlake Juliet (North Forks Prince George x Okeden Jolly)
Sold May 2009 to Edie Gwan, Palo Alto, California. Thank you for loving Juliet as you do and giving her such a fabulous life.
From Edie: “I absolutely adore Juliet and am so grateful she came into my life! She's so willing and fun to ride. I'm always impressed with her wonderful attitude. Today we rode a bit in the arena (practicing our dressage, at which I think she's doing quite well), and then we joined a bunch of friends and went out on the trail for an hour. It was so relaxing and pleasant, we were on the buckle the whole way, and she gets along great with all the horses. No problem being first, last, or in the middle. This Friday we're starting up a Quadrille team! And I think Juliet will enjoy it. I'm thinking of doing a little really low jumping with her (like 2 feet). I think she'd enjoy it as cross training. She has lots of fans at the Ranch. People think she looks like a mini warmblood and keep asking me what breed she is, but I think she looks like a fabulous Cob :-) I love the feathers and her pony head and gorgeous tail and soft eyes. She's a super representative of her breed."
