Upcoming Events for 2012
March 29-April 1 - Festival of the Horse, CDI, San Juan Capistano, California
April 5-8 - Golden State Festival & CDI, Rancho Murieta, California
As attendees were finishing their desserts, the November 6 Oregon Dressage Society Conference Banquet began delivering Year-End Awards. A well-kept secret surprised Jessica Wisdom when she heard the announcement that our pony, North Forks Cardi, was the recipient of the ODS DRESSAGE AMBASSADOR OF THE YEAR award. Cardi is the seventh horse to receive this honor, and is now part of the Hall of Fame for Oregon Dressage. The program reads: "The recipient is selected by the President of ODS. It is presented to the horse who has best represented dressage in Oregon and beyond, through competition or demonstrations... " Jessica was again surprised to be have earned the Sportsmanship Award which was created in 2005. "The purpose is to recognize an individual who, under adverse circumstances or situations, displays a positive and supportive outlook toward fellow competitors and show management." Team Cardi is so proud!
Olympic and Pan-American Gold Medalist Steffen Peters was symposium leader for the Ore. Dressage Society's Fall Festival. He present Team Cardi with the Ambassador of the Year award, coached Jessica and Cardi at the Grand Prix level clinic, and asked to take a turn on our pony as well! Steffen received big accolades for his line of nine one tempi changes on Cardi. Jessica remounted and took Cardi through another line of nine tempi changes. The 250 people in the audience were appreciative of both riders and of course, our adorable pony.
Summer/Fall Updates
October 1 Jessica and Cardi will clinic with Gunter Seidel at KGF Equestrian in Kirkland, WA. Contact Sandi Fortun at sandifortun@me.com to audit the clinic or visit www.kgfequestriancenter.com.
BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Winterlake Tristan and owner/rider Jennifer Martinez for finishing 9th nationally on the USDF Horse of the Year standings for Musical Freestyle. Their average score was 70% for the season! Tristan is a 4-year old Welsh pony of cob type, and full brother to C.D. Uptown Girl.
C.D. Uptown Girl, a weanling filly by Cardi out of Sec. C Welsh mare, Talywern Legally Blonde, won big time this season. Following her weaning, she showed at the double gold Brookside and WPCSA Western National at Elk Grove, California. Full of confidence, movement and type, she won all four of her C/D 2 and Under Classes. She went on to win three Res. Grand Championships and end up in the Supreme Class--all as a weanling! Big congratulations to owner/breeder Cindy Dibrino of Tualatin, Oregon. WPCSA YEARL END AWARDS: Uptown Girl captured the 2 and Under D Fillies NATIONAL CHAMPION title! Team Cardi is so proud!
Congratulations to owner Yvonne Billera, trainer Lisa Boyer and Winterlake Gulliver for a successful show season on Whidbey Island. Gulliver qualified for 1st Level Musical Freestyle with his 1st Level test scores. He ended the season winning both of his Freestyle classes to a lively selection of tunes from the Lion King. His ending halt salute following the refrain, "I Can't Wait to be King" and he WAS! He finished the Whidbey Equestrian Center show season as Res. Champion at First Level.

Team Gulliver ended the year winning Res. Champion Adequan/USDF All Breed Award for his excellence at First Level. And keeping it large-ish is preferred!

It was a fun weekend at the Washington State Horseman's Expo on February 18-20, 2011. Jessica & Cardi were in a Freestyle Showcase & Pas de Deux with Western Trainer Mark Bolender. BIG THANKS to Connie Riker and her Pony Clubbers of the Lincoln Creek PC. They were admiring Cardi when it was time to get Cardi groomed--the three girls swarmed him with brushes and combs and did a fantastic job! Kudos to Emma Parrish, Laurel Fimbel, and Cassie Riker!
A Cardi Original
We are humbled and excited to share this lovely piece with you, done by artist Susan Hughes of Tennessee. Susan has generously offered to use her talent to help Team Cardi in our quest next year to compete in North and Central America, and also in Europe in 2012 by donating 25% of the profits to Team Cardi.
Susan is releasing 50 prints that are presented in an off white, numbered and signed mat; the total measurement is 16" deep by 20" wide. You may choose the numbered print you like, beginning with #4. Cost is $90/print including shipping and handling.
If you prefer to support Team Cardi with apparel, Susan has established a www.cafepress.com/gocardi account in which a variety of clothing, mugs, other items are offered. (The sweatshirts are men's sizes, by the way.)
The original oil painting, also offered for sale, is 16 x 20 and comes with the beautiful rich wood frame, shown. The framed piece is 21" x 25" x 2". The price is $1500.
We are very proud and thankful to Susan for creating this project to assist Team Cardi. Regardless of whether you choose to buy anything, we appreciate the energy and good wishes sent our way as we continue to introduce our Welsh Cob stallion to the world as an ambassador for the breed and competing in the discipline of dressage.

Frozen semen now available
Cardi had a well-deserved rest following the show season and spent time with Dr. Lisa Metcalf. Lisa has a USDA-approved clinic for freezing semen for distribution in Europe. We now have a healthy reserve of frozen semen for North America and Europe.
Team Cardi Ends the Year on a High
Jessica and Cardi finished the show season by winning REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS in both I1 and in I1 Musical Freestyle. Finishing on top!
Held in early September, the Oregon Dressage Society Championship show earned the highest score for Team Cardi in the Intermediare 1: Jessica and Cardi were champions with a personal best of 68.8%. They captured Reserve Champion at I1 Freestyle in a closely-contested class, scoring 69.1%.
Cardi and Jessica sweep I1 and Freestyle
At the prestigious Dressage at Devonwood show held in Sherwood, Oregon, Team Cardi was at the top of their game. Jessica rode Cardi to the top spot in two events. The Intermediaire 1 test had 13 competitors and the FEI Musical Freestyle had 10 dancers. The freestyle was the evening's anticipated entertainment on the sand arena in front of the full VIP tent. The Celtic sounds of their choreographed dance earned Music and Interpretation scores of 8.0 and 8.5. The duo earned 8s for Half-Pass Right, Half-Pass Left, Extended Trot, and Flying changes every second stride. Judge J. Macartney commented, An impressive pair. Rhythmic and fluent work, a joy to watch and judge. Good choice of music, well put together.
Thanks to Karen Robinson for the Choreography. To view the freestyle: www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuvEe81LSCY&feature=sub

It was a dance with strong musicality which matched the horses and riders and was enjoyed by all. The individual I1 Freestyle earned a 68.75% and 2nd place. Cardi and Jessica came back on Sunday with a 68.9% winning the I1 test. Next weekend: Dressage at Devonwood in Sherwood, Oregon.

The ending of our 2009 season closes the biggest chapter yet in Cardi’s journey towards Grand Prix. Jessica and I feel as though we are on a magic carpet ride and that with a happy and sound pony, we eagerly anticipate 2010.
Recapping 2009: Cardi won three FEI Musical Freestyle Championships with a best score of 70.75% at the Dressage at Devonwood show. Special thanks go to Karen Robinson, choreographer. Equally important were their two championship wins at I1. Cardi and Jessica started the year off right with their 1st place win at Rancho Murieta Golden State Dressage Festival in California. Congratulations to everyone who helped along the way supporting and sponsoring Team Cardi.
Since returning from Pennsylvania in September, Cardi and Jessica have been working hard. A three-day clinic with reknown Conrad Schumacher, followed by a Christian Garweg clinic saw them improving the overall quality of their movements and specifically, continuing to develop the piaffe and passage. In the early New Year, Jeremy Steinberg coached Jessica and Cardi to even greater throughness, lightness in the trot and expression. Jessica is continuing to clinic with Jeremy bimonthly; everything is coming together and ‘clicking’. Remember, Jessica is learning this as she teaches Cardi. This is an extremely difficult way to progress. She has sought out the clinicians and experiences to challenge herself and Cardi. And the results are coming.
Cardi was chosen to be the 'cover boy' for these magazines.
